I'd have to point to xcb as well, as per comments and tests I've run 
myself in https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/libxcb/+bug/277069 . 
Unfortunately, they set it at 'low' priority. I've tried getting in 
contact with the guys that do xcb, but it seems I wasn't successful.

/me wishes all devs would remember that X doesn't *always* mean local.
