Hi all,
after discovering that I have left one file left from alpha 1, I would like
to release alpha 2 before Chistmas. :-)
I have discovered that the release procedure needs some work, make distcheck
is not working for one. I would like to catch an fix this problems before
entering the pre phase.
Some question to developer (in no particular order):
What are your plans?
When/If I'll find some time:
1 - Fix some bugs
2 - Optimize drawing
3 - Optimize file loading
What do you think it needs to be done?
Fix the remaining issues. Look at 'Status.15x'...
What are the areas that need most care?
- Tables
- keyboard navigation with math.
What is the appropriate deadline for alpha2?
As there was no real alpha1, I'd say *Now*.
Of course that depends on the goal of the alpha. I think there are a lot
of issues to be solved for 1.5.0 and we know already about them. I would
not like the developers to be stalled because they think that alpha
means "no big patch". I have the bad feeling that serious development is
kind of stalled nowadays. It seems that nobody has time to do anything
at this period of the year (except Ugras ;-)).
That being said, It would be good to have some real-user feedback. But
an alpha release without binary packages is useless for that.
Hope that helps,
Abdel.
