Using a text editor, add the following line to the "MISC SECTION" of the preferences file: \preview_scale_factor 0.7 and adjust the 0.7 factor to suit your needs. On *nix the preferences file is located in ~/.lyx, while on Windows you can find it in %APPDATA%/lyx15. -- Enrico
