Pakistan Youth Club Exploring Zionism With Dr Abraham Weizfeld || Special Episode
(Abraham Weizfeld’s course of life through Canada’s Toronto, Ottawa, Montréal and now Nablus, Palestine as well is as a nomadic academic who remains politically active since 1966. His doctoral thesis in political science was completed at the Université du Québec à Montréal despite the major opposition he faced and won in Québec’s Superior Court. The Thesis title provides a critique of the Nation-State – ‘Nation, Society and the State: the reconciliation of Palestinian and Jewish Nationhood’. Previously he was known as the Peace Camper who founded the protest camp in front of Canada’s Parliament building in Ottawa for more than two years during 1983-85 and which he lived with for eight months. At the same time he was responsible for the political research in the Palestine Information Office of the Arab League in Ottawa as political attaché. During the 1982 Israel invasion of Lebanon he wrote the documentary study Sabra & Shatila. Having presented his Anti-Zionist critique at the 1976 conference on Palestine in Tripoli, Libya, Weizfeld came to participate in a string of international conferences including the 1986 gathering in Tripoli to protest the bombing and attempted assassination of Mouammar Khadafi, the revolutionary leader of that time. Weizfeld volunteers with the Tanweer Palestinian Cultural Enlightenment Forum in the city of Nablus in Palestine’s West Bank mountainous regions. Being from a family of two survivors who escaped the Holocaust, Weizfeld learned the consequences of political discourse from the earliest age and in his first language of Yiddish.
