Hi. The tracking reliability of some older CD players is no where near the
newer units.

You can find new units with TOSlink outputs at such a low price that I don't
think it pays to get an older unit. The lasers do tend to cause problems as
they get older.

If you are talking about an older unit for $25, that's one thing. But I don't
think that one would be worth $75.

The new Sony portable CD players that have digital optical outputs are, in my
humble opinion, great. I have a D800 and it seems to be the best tracking CD
player I have owned.

Another option you have is to see if the CD ROM drive in your computer has the
terminals for a digital output. You should be able to find a link from the
community page on how to make a digital optical output for one.

LAS.
