| I intend to use an portable MD for concert recordings, and then
| putting onto cdr. I presently have an AWE64 Gold soundcard and
| will upgrade to a Live! (not value).
First of all, don't bother with the CD-R unless you want to use it for
short-term mastering. CD-R uses an organic dye which fades and
decomposes. Shelf life for CD-R is about 10 years before age-induced
errors become a problem. Your recordable MDs should last 10 times that, if
not more.
Both of your questions are answered via the MD FAQs and such at
<URL:http://www.minidisc.org/>. I believe the Live! card has digital input
capabilities, but few portable recorders have digital out, so you are
probably going to need some additional equipment.
