| Does anyone know what version of ATRAC Sharp 702 uses,

Sharp ATRAC 5.0, which is comparable to Sony's ATRAC 4.0.

| and how it's sound quality (recording and playback) compare to later
| Sharp models and CD sound.

I would expect the same, as I believe Sharp's other MD components use Sharp
ATRAC 5.0.

| Also what kind of bataries does it use,

Sharp AD-S31BT Lithium-Ion battery, plus 2 AA batteries in the optional
external battery compartment.

| and does it have a coaxial digital input?

There are no portable recorders with coaxial jacks. They use optical
miniplugs.
