Hi Dan,

Sorry to hear about your '702 problem. I haven't heard about this one
specifically, so I'm forwarding it to the MD mailing list in the hopes
that someone else might be able to help give you an answer.

Had the unit ever recorded properly for you? If not, it sounds DOA.
There is no "wrong operation" from the front panel that will produce
"DEFECT", if you are seeing this on multiple new MDs, the unit has a
problem.

You will want to connect from the headphone jack on the Sharp unit to
the "LINE IN" jack(s) on your stereo. The phono input is usually a low
level input with equalization that will probably produce a distorted
sound if connected to your Sharp (and I suppose it is possible to
damage your stereo by plugging your MD player into it).

Regards,
Rick
