i record band practices with my aiwa am-f70 with the following mic
http://www.soundprofessionals.com/minitmic.htm
its OK...not awesome or anything. i also bought a powered mic from guitar
center which was similarly OK but not in stereo. im still kinda lookin for
the ultimate mic for my situation. i dont know what your application is but
the mic in the url above (the 'T' shaped stereo one) is satisfactory. its
about 60 $ not including shipping. i also bought the same mic but mono. they
are nice in that theres no cables to mess with but the quality isnt what i
was expecting. i dont know, im just a drummer, but maybe my expectations
were too high (?)....<shrug>

either way, if you wanna talk more specifically about it you can email me at

i cant offer anything on your mac question. im still working on getting my
band practices from my MD to my PC and ultimately burned onto a cd for band
mates to hear how bad they are f*cking up the songs...hehehe

Subject: MD: Recording Live Audio/Computer loading

Hello everyone, I am new to the minidisk list. :) Yes, I have a
couple of questions to pose for those of you that I suspect have more
knowledge of this topic. I am looking heavily into a portable MD
recorder. I have been looking on the net for days at different options,
and my head is spinning. I would love if someone could suggest a
model(s) for me. this is what I really want it to do:
1)To record live audio using a Stereo Mic (that is another thing I
could use suggestions on...)
2)Load this audio onto my mac into Digital Performer and other
audio programs for edit/additions. I have a mac G3 with firewire and
USB connections, so I want to try to get a digital out. I haven't yet
seen a portable with optical out. Even if I do, will this work with my
computer?
I have a decend amount of experience with general audio and
computer audio, but this is my first minidisk endeavor. Any help would be
greatly appreciated and welcomed. :) Nice to be here...

                                -=James
