I'm new to the list and am thinking of buying a Sony JB930 or a Denon
DMD-1000. I want to use the deck as a DAC for the digital output from my
computer's sound card. Does anyone know whether the Sony has its recording
mechanism engaged while in Record-pause mode, and if this will cause wear
on the deck or disc.
The Denon deck has a monitor mode which I presume does not engage the
record head. This would probably be more suitable. I havn't heard the two
machines together to compare their sounds. Any advice?
