Hi All,

I recently purchased an MDS-PC2 because I was really tired of titling on my
MZ-R55 portable. I figured that I could also use the MDS-PC2 to do any CD
to MD copying. I have an SB-Live Value with a Hoontech SB I/O III digital
daugtherboard attached to it. The MDS-PC2 is connected to both the digital
in and digital out of the Hoontech card. This works great... I can record
and playback through my computer.

The problem comes when trying to use the MD Editor 2 software to copy from
CD (located in my DVD-ROM connected digitally to the SB-Live via a S/PDIF
cable) to MD. It works fine for copying one track at a time but when I want
to copy multiple tracks or an entire CD the software plays the track and
then doesn't pause the recorder to mark the track until about 1 second after
the next track has started playing. This causes an annoying 1 second
lead-in to the next song on the end of each MD recorded track. Has anyone
else seen this issue?

I am not quite sure what I think about the MDS-PC2. I think that the
hardware is great but the software leaves much to be desired. Does anyone
know of any other software that is compatible with the MDS-PC2? I am
contemplating writing my own. The difficult part would be decoding the data
that is sent between the PC and the deck, although I have a few (and only a
few) web sites that contain some relevant information about S-Link and
Control A-1.

Here is a list of features that I would like to see in a program that
interfaces with the MDS-PC2 on top of what MD Editor 2 already has:

- Flawless PC-CD to MD recording
- CDDB Support (I can't believe that MD Editor 2 doesn't have this)
- Support for copying other media (i.e. MP3, WAV, etc.). I know that this
can be done via WinAmp but wouldn't it be nice to have ONE program to go
through to copy to MD.

If anyone else has any other features that they would like to see in
software like this, please let me know. Is there an interest out there for
more (read: better) software?
