This sounds very familiar - my Creative DXR2 is in for repair right now for
exactly the same fault..after just 11 mths use
It gradually got worse until any dvd disc would not read at all - win98
explorer says no disc.
The shop that I bought it from kept telling me there was no problem with
it, but they tested it with CD-Roms and it reads them OK (twin lens)
After the third trip to the shop, this time with the complete PC (with only
Win98 and Creative's DVD software) they finally agreed the player was
faulty...
They have had it 6 weeks so far and no sign of a repair date - it seems
that Creative have to ship their repairs from Australia to
Hong-Kong/Singapore...
I for one will never buy any more Creative junk, sound and video cards
included....
