The mentality of being able to copy CDs and create a "perfect" copy of the
original (even though there were no practical CD copiers available when MD came
out (maybe they had SCAM on consumer DAT recorders back then) carried over to
MD.

Since all MD copies have to be "compressed" with ATRAC, you can not make a
"perfect" copy of either a CD or a prerecorded MD.

Most MD'ers feel that since an MD is already subject to any affects of ATRAC,
by making a digital rather then analog copy.
