I'll say this in general: if the input is already monaural, SP mono is going to use a higher bitrate than LP2 and can be heard on non-LP playback equip- ment, so I think the choice is obviously SP mono then. But if the material is stereo, then you have a choice of retaining the separation in LP2 or los- ing it in SP mono, and that's up to you.
