Rick,
    yeah the unilink adaptor is exactly what i was thinking of in my reply
to this thread too.  it has been about a year since i saw it, but there are
a couple third party developers out there that have made them.  they were a
lot less than sony's (from what i remember around $30)  I never used one,
but know they exist.  it's been long enough that they might even have the
plans for it out there on the internet somewhere (the developers not sony)
anyway hope that helps and if i come across the links to those 3'rd party
adaptors i'll let ya know.
