Hi Everyone, I'm looking for some advice on the Sony MXD-D5C and the Sony MDS-JB940. I picked up a D5C for a really good price, and that's why I'm considering keeping it (I actually bought 2 of them...using one, other brand new in box). What really bugs me about the D5C is the lack of a digital output. While comparing CD playback quality on the D5C to my other equipment, the D5C definately doesn't even come close. This is likely due to the D5C using a Hybrid Pulse DAC, while my other equipment is fitted with 24-bit Burr-Brown DACs (sort of an unfair comparison). With this type of performance on the CD side of things, I suspect that I'll get similar results with the MD. As such, that's why I'm interested in the JB940 since I can send everything digitally to an external DAC for decoding. I'm pretty picky about my music, however I'm quite picky about money too, haha! Pretty much, it comes down to this: Is the performance of the JB940 worth the extra money spent over the D5C? The 4x dubbing and CD changer features of the D5C aren't all that important, although nice to have. With that in mind, does anybody know of a reputable dealer selling the JB940 at a good price (preferably in Canada, but I can always order from thte US). If I do decide on the JB940, is anybody interested in buying a MXD-D5C brand new in box? :) Ed ----------------------------------------------------------------- To stop getting this list send a message containing just the word "unsubscribe" to [EMAIL PROTECTED]
