i could very well be wrong on this, but here is possibly the answer,  VCD is
a CBR MPEG1 video stream.  SVCD is a VBR MPEG2 video stream.  and this is
the part i'm probably really wrong on but i think that teh MD-Discam is a
CBR MPEG2 video stream.  if this is the case it explains it fully.  I hope
i'm right and i hope that helps.
