Soon after purchasing my '83 300SD back in 2003 I was on a trip back from Nebraska during the Saturday night/Sunday morning time, somewhere in southern Missouri on Hwy 71. The pedal was to the floor...cruising along the LONG multi-mile stretch that is flat and straight. I was somewhere in the low triple digits, but I'm not sure exactly where since the dash light fuse had not been replaced yet. I noticed a pair of headlights in my rearview mirror, and about a minute or so later they were closer. Sure enough, the blue lights came on and I rolled to a stop. The state trooper asked for license/registration/insurance and didn't say anything else. He went back to his car, and returned about 60-90 seconds later. He handed me my info back and said this, "I know how easy and fun it is to get a big and heavy car cruising like that, but we have a lot of deer in this area. So, slow it down and have a safe morning." I about had a heart attack I was so shocked.
