I was chasing dragons all week with MPIR segfaulting in its testsuite (https://gcc.gnu.org/bugzilla/show_bug.cgi?id=63610), turns out that this is due to aclocal.m4 picking the wrong linker flags. See also https://gmplib.org/list-archives/gmp-bugs/2014-September/003534.html
