Thanks for the response, guys! Andy, I guess my concern was that I would run into things like dropped channels, etc. more often with an ir blaster than I would with a serial port. On the other hand, you guys seem to express a good deal of confidence in them, so that makes me feel better about the prospect of going with that.
I was planning on calling up Dish TV and attempting to find someone knowledgeable enough to give me the skinny on serial ports on their boxes. I'll let you guys know if I find anything.
