The Seattle Indian Health Board is seeking a lead epidemiologist for
research conducted within the Urban Indian Health Institute (UIHI).  UIHI
is designed with a national focus to provide leadership in health
information to increase recognition of the health status and needs of
American Indians and Alaska Natives (AI/AN) living in urban areas.

The successful candidate will: (1) provide leadership in planning and
implementing appropriate investigations concerning public health issues
affecting urban AI/AN; (2) design, implement and evaluate health
surveillance projects involving to 34 health programs funded by the U.S.
Indian Health Service, in addition to research projects involving both
primary data collection and existing secondary data sources; (3)
collaborate with other agencies such as regional Tribal Epi Centers, the
Indian Health Service, CDC, and other state and local public health
agencies; and (4) travel approximately 6 or more times per year.

Applicants must have a doctoral degree in epidemiology or related field
with at least 2 years experience in epidemiological research and analysis,
plus demonstrated leadership and supervisory capability in research
development and implementation.  A demonstrated understanding of health
needs of AI/AN and ability to work with individuals from various cultural
and socioeconomic backgrounds is also required.  Salary $60,000-$80,000.
