I generally try to use the keyboard to navigate folders in nautilus as much as possible
since it's faster than reaching for my mouse. One of the quickest ways to navigate with
the keyboard is to use the 'typeahead find' feature to jump quickly to the directory you
want. I use the spatial browsing mode, so I often want to close the parent windows when
opening a new folder (e.g. use <shift>+<return> to open the new folder). However,
pressing <shift>+<return> does nothing while typeahead find is active. So I need to
manually dismiss the find entry before opening the window, which slows me down
significantly. For quite a while, this has been my biggest annoyance with nautilus so I
finally decided to try to fix it. I have attached a patch with a potential fix to
bugzilla. As mentioned in the HACKING file, I'm sending a message to the list so that it
doesn't get lost in all of the bugzilla traffic. You can fine it here:
http://bugzilla.gnome.org/show_bug.cgi?id=579551. I'd appreciate any input.
