Hello, Does Nesus use the results of the nmap scan to decide whether or not to try additional plugins ? For example if nmap only finds Port 25 open will it only then try the SMTP vulnerabilities ? (It seems to try all the plugins if enabled) If this is not the case can it be set up to do this ? I know that I can run a www server on 25 for example but if I am only worried about standard services on standard ports can I configure Nessus to do this ?

Is there anyway I can alter this behavior? I would think the Nessus KB would be the best source for Nmap port mapping. Does the Nessus Nmap wrapper use the /etc/services file also?
