On a sample video file, using the above environment variable, 'ffplay4' starts playing audio right away, but takes several seconds to display choppy video. It then hangs after the end of the file and keeps running until I press Ctrl-C. With the variable set, 'mpv' and 'mplayer both default to "xv" as the video output. 'mpv' opens a window but never paints it while 'mplayer' opens a black window. The audio in the sample file plays and both players exit otherwise normally. Forcing "-vo sdl" in 'mplayer' opens a black window and the sample file audio plays while a stream of: [...] Movie-Aspect is undefined - no prescaling applied. VO: [sdl] 352x240 => 352x240 Planar YV12 Movie-Aspect is 1.34:1 - prescaling to correct movie aspect. VO: [sdl] 352x240 => 352x262 Planar YV12 X11 error: BadAlloc (insufficient resources for operation) A: 0.3 V: 0.2 A-V: 0.026 ct: 0.000 2/ 2 ??% ??% ??,?% 0 0 X11 error: BadAlloc (insufficient resources for operation) A: 0.3 V: 0.3 A-V: 0.026 ct: 0.003 3/ 3 ??% ??% ??,?% 0 0 [...] scrolls up the terminal window. Forcing "--vo=sdl" in 'mpv' seems to work reasonably well. -- |/"\ John D.
