A while back (15/11) there was a conversation about the columns in the
directory window. Brian suggested manipulating the registry with
"regedit", removing the entries and restarting NM, which causes NM to
recreate these entries ( and bring back the default settings).
Paying little heed to his warning "be careful though screwing up the
registry can make your whole machine unusable.", I played around with
the registry settings as suggested, and now my directory is invisible
entirely! Or at least, it start in minimised
mode when launched, and can then be maximised, but won't accept
anything in between.
Any ideas?
Can I restore the default settnigs somehow?

Doesn't

I see what you mean - it seems possible to make columns disappear so
that no
UI action ( at least none that I could find) would restore it. I
suspect
uninstalling and reinstalling would bring back the defaults but you
can
manipulate the registry with "regedit" as well to get them back.
In the registry
HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\Conferencing\UI has a couple of
entries:
DirColumnWidths == that controls column widths
DirColumnOrder == that controls column orders
I don't know the exact format but shutting down NM, removing the
entries and
restarting NM causes NM to recreate these entries ( and bring back the
default settings).
I did this on my WinMe machine but I think any WinX machine would be
the
same -- be careful though screwing up the registry can make your whole
machine unusable.
