This is an effect of the initscripts bug. Get the updated initscripts
package from ftp://ftp.mandrakesoft.com/pub/bero/fixes

e2fsck WhereverYourRootFilesystemIs (e.g. /dev/hda1, /dev/hdb2, /dev/sda1)
