As far as I (also a newbie) understand it, you could do what you ask and
LILO would default to DOS but, what's the point? If LILO isn't in the MBR,
then, unless you have another boot manager in MBR, DOS (or Windows) will
automatically boot anyway. And if you DO have another boot manager in MBR,
you don't need to change LILO to default to DOS. Just change the boot
manager you are using to default to DOS.
If I am wrong, I hope someone will correct me. :-)
