Well I know nothing of "Socketwatch", but for Linux I use ntpdate in a cron
job run twice a day to synchronise my clock to atomic reference clocks. It is
on the ntp RPM.
In a cron job the command
/usr/sbin/ntpdate -s ntp0.nl.net ntp2.fau.de

(Webmin is a convenient way to set up Cron jobs)
