The control center is not missing. It just has a broken link on the desktop. To fix, just change whatever the link executes to "drakconf" and towards the bottom of that same tab, it should say, "Run as different user". Do this, and run it as root. When you click the link it should ask for a password, and there is your control center. Other than this, I would say that you are ready to go and give Mandrake 9.0 a shot. It hasn't been a problem for me whatsoever. HTH,
