I settled on KDE after trying the others out - Gnome didn't look very nice (poor font rendering), and the rest were just a little too far removed from what I'm used to, but might give them another try in the future. I've tried using linux at various points in the past 3 or 4 years and decided it wasn't for me, but this time round I'm enjoying it, and it seems to be easier. It still takes a lot more effort to do simple things (like change your screen resolution... grrrr) than it should, but I guess it'll get there soon. Thanks again for your help, gaff
