Actually there are many more options than just these two. Each has its advantages, so try 'em all and see which one(s) you like the best.
When you install Linux, you'll be asked which graphical environment(s) you want to install. Choose 'em all. Upon each login you will be able to choose which one you want to try for that session. Pretty soon you'll see just how limiting Windows is with only one graphical environment.
