A-ha! I was trying to create a multi-session CD myself at the weekend, and had the same problem! I worked out eventually that when you create the ISO image (using mkisofs) you need to have the original CD in the drive, and tell mkisofs to make a note of the files already on it when it builds up a new directory listing. I can't remember the exact switch to use, but I'm sure "man mkisofs" will bring it up.
