I currently have a Mdk 8.2 system with three kernels. The 8.0 kernel (2.4.3-20mdk) will not give ordinary users access to removable media - depending on how accessed, I get messages like "Could not read / ", "You do not have permission to access /mnt/floppy" or "Mount: only root can do that". The 8.2 kernel (2.4.18-6mdk) allows access, but freezes on entering the Internet. The 9.0 kernel (2.4.3-20mdk), which I've just installed, behaves just like the 8.0 kernel; i.e. no access for ordinary users.
My /etc/fstab file is as follows (some lines may be broken because of text-wrapping in the mail) /dev/hda5 / reiserfs defaults 1 1 none /dev/pts devpts mode=0620 0 0 none /dev/shm tmpfs defaults 0 0 /mnt/cdrom /mnt/cdrom supermount dev=/dev/cdrom,fs=iso9660,--,user 0 0 /mnt/floppy /mnt/floppy supermount dev=/dev/fd0,fs=vfat,--,user 0 0 /dev/hda1 /mnt/windows vfat user,exec,dev,suid,rw 0 0 none /proc proc defaults 0 0 /dev/hda6 swap swap defaults 0 0 Any ideas what might be causing all this?
