That depends, postfix is a mail server...
if you just collect email via evolution or kmail from your ISP's mail server then no, you don't need postfix running.. however, you can do some really really cool things using postfix, so its worth reading up on. (postfix.org) Also, if you run a security level that does checks and emails the results, then you need postfix to get them I believe. rgds Frank.
