Thanks for your reply Dennis. I have run the /sbin/lilo after the changes. MCC just 
keeps putting things back after I change them. I don't know what brought this about. 

I have uninstalled watchdog, thinking it may have something to do with this weird 
behaviour. I had installed it yesterday, and these troubles started at bootup today.

I may have to do some sort of reinstall, but I hate to do that. If things don't 
progressively get out of control, and it just means I have to look at the graphical 
lilo menu, well, I'll let MCC have it's way for now.

I'm new to Linux, and run past my abilities really fast. This list keeps me in the 
center of things. I've had 9.0 on my box for about two months now and it's been really 
good.

Any ideas gratefully accepted. TIA.
