In all honesty, if you've got an optimised modem connection, and your local machine tcp/ip networking is setup properly, and you don't have any services running that advertise to the outside world, you have an already optimised internet system. You might, however, want to tune your hard drives and your file system for better performance, and find out which browser fits your needs the most - but you can't get any better than a finely tuned linux/unix box on the net. -- Wed, 19 Feb 2003 07:25:00 +1100 7:25am up 1 day, 16:21, 5 users, load average: 0.52, 0.30, 0.28 ------------------------------------------------------------------ | __ __ | kuhn media australia | | / ,, /| |'-. | http://kma.0catch.com | | .\__/ || | | |=================================| | _ / `._ \|_|_.-' | stephen kuhn | | | / \__.`=._) (_ | email: [EMAIL PROTECTED] | | |/ ._/ |"""""""""| | email: [EMAIL PROTECTED] | | |'. `\ | | | icq: 5483808 | | ;"""/ / | | | | | smk ) /_/| |.-------.| | mobile: 0410-728-389 | | ' `-`' " " | Berkeley, New South Wales, AU | ------------------------------------------------------------------ linux user:267497 * RH 8.0 * PC/Mac/Linux/Networking/Consulting ------------------------------------------------------------------ "If a computer can't directly address all the RAM you can use, it's just a toy." -- anonymous comp.sys.amiga posting, non-sequitir
