Try CTRL+ALT+F2 to get to another console, then log in as root, and run
xconfigurator to fix the X setup. then you can use shutdown -r now to
reboot. I think this will work.
Also, to get back to the first console, you can use CTRL+ALT+F7, but you
will want to restart to see if the above will fix X.
