A small part of me says "go ahead." Just think of all those Windows users out there without the CDs, because they bought a mass-produced machine. Just imagine all the Linux users sitting pretty because no code from the net runs as administrator, and no open-source downloader/player will implement the required functionality. Imagine the number of false positives. Imagine the bad press for M$. Imagine the international law-suites (The whole thing would be illegal in the UK, for a start.)
