[newbie] Connecting a joystick

I've got a joystick connected to the game port on my
sound card. I know it's connected correctly, cause it
works alright with BeOS.

I've tried doing "insmod joystick" and "insmod
joy-analog", but I get no "/dev/js?" device.

Btw, I haven't got KDE installed. Only Gnome.
