Just to reiterate, I installed both ad-aware and spybot on my work machines just the other day. Both look good, and there's not much to choose between them.
I use spybot - when I reviewed offerings earlier this year, ad-aware development had stalled over the winter - has this changed? I noticed yesterday that Norton AntiVirus (Corp Edition) is catching some of these trojans now - even though they are not virii.
