Hi Brant,
even though that string didn't work, that was what I was asking for. Could you tell me what they mean and maybe I can experiment with some others. Maybe even a place the gives a short and easy (remember newbie here) to understand howto on strings (if in fact I am actually using the correct term).

The "%t" fills in the "To:" field of the email with whatever is included in the mailto: link. No "To:" field in the link--no "To:" field in the email.
The same goes for the "%s" macro. Only it deals with the subject.
