LG, should be paying for it because the problem is with them..
not mandrake..
The only thing mandrake have to do, is put in the workaround..
which they already have it seems.

Franki, I totally agree with you. Unfortunately many people have mouths bigger than brains.

Anne,

Your comment was not about me, right?

My comment was not aimed at you. It was aimed at the many people I
see on the Internet who shout loudly without bothering to find out
whether there is any truth in the statements or not.

Now let me ask you a question. If Microsoft had released a new
version of Windows that so happened to destroy CD drives, would you
be as generous as you are to Mandrake or would you scream from the
top of your lungs for Microsoft to pay for the damage?

Absolutely, Avi. There are many things I dislike about M$, but I
would not hold them responsible for something over which they have no
control. If you look back on the list you will see that I do not go
in for gratuitous M$ bashing.

I don't know if would have been as nice as you. I installed 9.2 for a friend on his IBM laptop. While using it, the machine locked solid and would not boot anymore. It claims not to find the HD anymore. In this case *I think* the laptop's problem is a genuine hardware problem, but if I was convinced that the damage was done by an OS, I am not sure I could have stayed calm. Replacing an out of warranty laptop CD drive can be a *very* costly endeavor.
