-----BEGIN PGP SIGNED MESSAGE----- Hash: SHA1 Dear all, I visited a Compaq exhibition the other day and with me I brought my Knoppix 3.2 live CD. I managed to persuade the sales person to let me try booting the notebook with the CD.
The notebook was Compaq NX7000: - - Intel centrino (Pent. Mobile 1,4Ghz, chipset Intel 855PM, Intel Pro wireless 2100). - - WinXP pro - - 256 DDR SDRAM - - 40GB HDD - - 15.4 WXGA display - - Builtin FDD - - DVD/DVD-CDRW combo - - 802.11b wireless LAN - - 64MB VRAM DDR - - Integrated modem and LAN - - Bag The booting process seemed smooth. It loaded the xwindows successfully, however, I had a few questions: 1. The vga was detected as vesa. Whereas the actual chip was ATI Savage Mobile 9000. 2. How do I check that the wireless LAN is detected? Is it as eth0, eth1? I didn't have enought opportunities to playing around with it, because suddenly all electricity went down on their stand and they didn't the equip the notebook with battery. 3. Is info in /proc reliable enough to see hardware/chipset specs? Thanks. - -- Fajar http://linux.arinet.org Linux mdk91.sistek.kom 2.4.21-0.13mdk GNU/Linux 12:51:57 up 5:58, 10 users, load average: 0.74, 0.62, 0.58 Quote of the day: Windows 98 is guaranteed to make your system 98% slower. -----BEGIN PGP SIGNATURE----- Version: GnuPG v1.2.1 (GNU/Linux) iD8DBQE/3U+sMai9kCFqACoRAprcAJ952vkfjLN3xOdQRuG5eydNV1vPsgCfeKK0 G4yjBDBH0Fogrd+eshpXZ9A= =GIno -----END PGP SIGNATURE-----
