True enough, but keep in mind that Longhorn will be using all these resources
*sitting doing nothing*.

Hell, WinXP uses over 120 MB of RAM just at idle, if you want to do anything as
simple as edit a Word doc, you need at least 256MB of RAM (?!) so yer not left
twiddling yer thumbs.

The difference between Linux and Windows for the hardware requirements, IMO,
depends more on the users needs than the underlying OS. If you are only going to
use your Linux box for basic office functions, an old P2 with 256MB will do it,
NP. Hell, if you are only doin' server stuff, no GUI, an old Pentium will
do, depending on the load you expect. OTOH, Longhorn, from what we are hearing,
won't even *run* without those ruthless specs, let alone do anything useful.
