You can turn any default installation of GNU/linux (Mandrake is what we
use here) into a very power server - yet still be a workstation to boot;
although I have segregated the roles of machines on MY home network,
prior to my 10.0 OE installation, my "workstation" was the primary
"server" - being a mail/IMAP server, a firewall, dhcp server, Samba
server, web proxy server, an "antivirus" server - and was still my
workstation.

So no, it's not a specific distro at all - just a matter of how you set
up your stuff (plan the work, work the plan as they say).

Oh, and BTW, I did find, however, that Mandrake seems to be a more
responsive "server" than RH9 - especially in Samba...(tested on two
exact machines - one with RH9 the other with MDK 9.1).
