I have an old Dell Inspiron 3800. Both 10.0 Official and 10.1 Community work well on it. A few glitches, most notably with a wireless pcmcia card (got it working in 10.0, but only with encryption disabled, and with some very weird glitches, like trashing of my default system font; haven't had time to try yet with 10.1). Also, I only have 64MB memory, which is not enough to run KDE on, so it thrashes badly (and I haven't had time to investigate a more memory friendly window mangler). Strangely though, MandrakeMove does not work on it. It fails during booting (I forget the exact symptoms). It's not the cd, because I can boot it fine on a Compaq Armada M700 laptop, and a Dell Dimension XPS R400 desktop. I can also boot Knoppix on the Inspiron. -- Ron Hunter-Duvar ronhd at users dot sourceforge dot net Opinions expressed here are all mine. Rights to use these opinions are granted under the GNU GPL.
