Dear friends: This is my official invitation to all of you who use StarOffice for Linux. I will send copies of this invitation right away to some of the major Linux sites on the Web. Please feel free to send a copy of this letter to anyone you like, or to any other Linux mailing list or distro or any web site you think might benefit from it. Thank you again. Benjamin P. S. This is my last message on this subject to our Mandrake list. BEGIN: The new StarOffice mailing list is now ready to accept members. WHAT IS IT? A mailing list for StarOffice for Linux -- all versions of Star Office. Please indicate your version number if necessary. TARGET AUDIENCE: All Linux distributions world-wide, without exception. LANGUAGE OF COMMUNICATION: English only. But broken English is acceptable. WHAT KIND OF LIST? Unmoderated list. Anyone can join. TO SUBSCRIBE: If you wish to join star-linux, please send an email message to the following address: [EMAIL PROTECTED] Leave subject header and body of message blank. TO POST A MESSAGE: To send a message to the list, send an email to: [EMAIL PROTECTED] ONLINE ARCHIVES: You can also see all the messages for star-linux at: http://www.egroups.com/list/star-linux Note: The online site has many options. You can, for instance, not only see all the messages of the list but post new messages directly from the online site. The online site will provide you with full and up-to-the minute information about our group, its policy, membership, subscrition info, etc. CENSORSHIP POLICY: No censorship of any sort of members' postings will be permitted. However, if a user requests that a message be deleted, I will be happy to delete it for him/her. However, be advised that egroups.com has a strange counting system. When a message is deleted, the counter does not adjust for it. So, e.g. it might say that there are 10 messages when there are only 9. While no members' messages will be deleted from our online archives without their express written request, all objectionable material will be dealt with appropriately, such as spam messages, outright profanity for its own sake, flaming, the endless "please unsubscribe me" messages (which should be done professionally) and any postings that have nothing to do with StarOffice for Linux. Exceptions to the above rule might include cross-postings from other Linux or Star Office mailing lists that clearly identify themselves as such and request help with a specific problem. ONLINE ADVERTISING: I think most of us will admit that a little advertising by egroups.com in the form of an advertising bar online or discreet ads in our email message are a small price to pay for the privilege of having a free mailing list for StarOffice. At any rate, that is beyond my control. LEGAL DISCLAIMER: Finally, as the list-owner, I disclaim any legal responsibility WHATSOEVER for any proper or improper use of the information, technical advice and instructions or their consequences as presented on our lists. All content is the responsibility of list members alone. Thank you so much. Benjamin P. S. You might wish to look at several other StarOffice mailing lists at egroups.com. Just type "Staroffice" in the search box. There is a very active list for OS/2, a small list for Windows and several other specialized SO lists, including one located in Portugal and one in Brazil. There is also a list called SO-L list run Alex V. Flinsch, one of our new members. If you are interested in his list, please contact him at: Alex V Flinsch <[EMAIL PROTECTED]> --- Benjamin and Anna Sher [EMAIL PROTECTED] Sher's Russian Web http://www.websher.net
