To another window manager, you can run xinit. It will start a X server and an xterm. You can then run the WM you want from the xterm. To select a WM as the default one, you can change your /etc/X11/Xclients or make your own in your home directory. And there is also maybe a script like gnome.inst or something like that that will do it for you, but I'm not sure
