First, congratulations!  Mandrake - Linux is a great distribution.
Second, you don't install on windows 98; you could repartition your hard drive and dual boot both operating systems separately however.
Third, if you've never worked with Linux or Unix, I would suggest that you pick up a couple of books to get started; I like 'Linux for dummies' from idg press.  It covers some of the basics, like exactly how to set up your hard drive, installation and setting up an internet connection.  When you're ready for some more in-depth stuff, O'Reilly puts out some great books on just about any topic (just head down to your local Barnes & Noble), and finally, I've got a copy of 'Red Hat Linux 6 Unleashed' (though some of the features will vary from Mandrake) and it gives a general overview of most topics.

Good luck!
