I managed to install the lucent driver for the winmodem. Just ignore the
message about it being for the older kernel as it works adequately using the
kernel that Mandrake 7 uses.
A problem I'm having tho' is that, once the modem is connect to my ISP, I'm no
longer able to launch new applications in X.
not sure whether it's a problem with the driver, or a problem with winmodems in
general.
